The more you learn, the more you realize how much you really don't know.

Education and education reform have always played a large role in my life. Growing up I worked as a secretary and assistant in my father's Education Reform business, The Institute for Learner Centered Education. I had the good fortune to spend conference after conference surrounded by dedicated educators.

After graduating Brandeis I worked as an English teacher in the French public schools, in Picardie, France. The education system in France is vastly different from that of the US, and I am learned as much as my students. I made the most of my chance to employ the teaching techniques I had studied and helped other teachers to discover for so many years.

I am currently a speech coach at Shir Tikva Synagogue, where I am lucky enough to be paid to work with twelve and thirteen year olds. I find my theater training constantly valuable as we discuss word choices and practice reading aloud.

Although I chose not to remain in the classroom, I look forward to continually impacting the lives of the next generation, both as a tutor and through working in educational media.

Some of the questions I constantly ponder and explore:

  • What role do parents play in their child's education? What role should they play? How much communication is necessary between high school teachers and parents? Between middle school teachers and parents?
  • How much do teachers influence the parent-student relationship? How much do parents influence the teacher-student relationship?
  • How is theater used in education? How can it be used?
  • How different are the core courses from the electives, in public schools?
